If you are thinking about the RCMP as a career, it is not enough to know what a constable earns after Depot-you also need to understand how much you get paid while you are still a cadet.
In 2026, the RCMP significantly improved the Cadet Training Allowance, making it much easier for applicants to afford the 26-week training program in Regina.
RCMP cadets are not full employees yet, but they still receive a weekly allowance during their time at the Academy.
As of April 1, 2026, the RCMP increased the cadet recruitment allowance from 525 CAD to 1,000 CAD per week, paid bi-weekly to every cadet actively enrolled at Depot.
Since the Cadet Training Program runs for 26 weeks, that works out to a maximum allowance of 26,000 CAD over the full course, as long as you complete the program.
While you are at Depot Division in Regina, core living and training costs are covered, including accommodations, meals, uniforms, and the training program itself.
Travel to and from Depot at the start and end of training is also commonly covered, reducing out-of-pocket expenses further.
Once you graduate and are offered employment as a regular member, you move from an allowance model to the full salary grid.
